Melvin Podolski was born 1994 in Leuven, Belgium. He is a photographer based in Brussels, where he graduated as a Master in Photography at LUCA school of arts in 2018. Podolski gives you a look into his own environment, a place where counter cultures, underground music and skateboarding thrive. He is interested in these set of attitudes that are at variance to the prevailing norm. As a photographer and contributor of those esoteric communities, he sheds a light on that what outsiders cannot perceive, wether it’s the beauty of an obscure landscape, an intimate portrait of friends or the harsh reality of self destructive behaviour. By putting together certain imagery he tries to conceive an intuitive sense towards the viewer. Balancing between fiction and reality Podolski generates a dysphoric atmosphere within his work, that leaves room for interpretation. His work is shot exclusively on film, using 35mm, 120mm and large format cameras.
